Check your current battery's group size (printed on the label) or look it up by your vehicle's year/make/model. Match the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) rating or higher.
Use a wrench (usually 10mm) to loosen the negative (black/minus) terminal clamp and move it away from the battery post.
Remove the positive (red/plus) terminal. Then remove the battery hold-down bracket or clamp. Lift the old battery out — batteries are heavy (30–50 lbs).
Clean the terminal clamps with a battery terminal cleaner or wire brush. Apply terminal protectant spray. Place the new battery in position and secure the hold-down bracket.
Connect positive terminal first, then negative. Tighten both clamps snugly. You may need to reset the clock and radio presets. Some vehicles require an idle relearn procedure.
