A clean air filter improves fuel efficiency and engine performance. A clogged filter restricts airflow and can cause rough running.

Open the hood and find the air filter housing — it's usually a large black plastic box near the front of the engine bay with a large duct running to the throttle body.
Release the clips or screws holding the air box lid closed. Some vehicles use spring clips, others use Phillips screws. Lift the lid carefully.
Pull the old filter out and hold it up to light. If you can't see light through it, it's due for replacement. Note which direction the filter sits (airflow arrow).
Drop the new filter in with the correct orientation. Ensure it seats flat with no gaps around the edges. Close the lid and secure all clips/screws.
